Tokyo Obelisk

Many works of the fine arts have been exhibited throughout in Tokyo as a part of the urban space. These were displayed to hope for the development of the company or as a monument, and each work has the unique concept and intent of the installation side.

However, people aren't always paying attention to the surroundings when they get around town. Therefore, people don't always stop and appreciate those works if they come across them because most of the works aren't well known in general.

Fine art is an art in pursuit of artistic value apart from the practicality. These works which are artsy-craftsy in our daily life are the works symbolize the basic idea of fine arts, and indicates the role in the society of fine arts in present days.

In addition, as if those unrecognized works which are exhibited throughout the city indicates people's disinterest of fine art in Tokyo.

東京オベリスク - Case01: ファイン・アート（ありあまる富）-

東京には都市空間の一部として，ファインアート作品が数多く点在している．これらの作品は，企業の発展を祈願したものや記念碑などとして設置されたものが多く，各作品にはコンセプトと設置側の意図が込められている．

しかし，人々は街中を移動する際に，常に周囲の状況を意識しながら歩いてはいない．そのため，たとえ人々が街中でこれらの作品に遭遇したとしても，これらの作品の多くが世間一般的に有名な作品ではないため，あえて立ち止まり鑑賞しようとはしない．

ファインアートとは，「実用性から独立して，芸術的価値を追求したもの」である．我々の日常生活において「不要なもの＝非実用的なもの」であるこれらの作品がファインアートの基本理念を象徴する作品そのものであり，現代におけるファインアートの社会的役割を明示していた．

加えて，人知れず街中に点在するこれらの作品が，東京という都市における孤独感を表徴しているかのようであった．
